OVERVIEW
There’s no better way to learn a new language than to experience the culture up close and personal! Our Language Immersion in Puerto Rico program allows students to improve their Spanish conversation skills, reinforce correct grammar, and expand vocabulary. Partnered with classroom learning, this trip will help students experience the Puerto Rican culture through hands-on learning opportunities including practicing Spanish in the local markets, preparing traditional dishes, and exploring beautiful architecture.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY
- Arrive and meet your JE Tour Director at the San Juan airport
- Transfer to your hotel
- Visit a local beach and enjoy the island sunset (if time allows – depending on flight schedule)
- Dinner at a local restaurant
- Devotions at hotel
DAY 2: ADVENTURE DAY
- Breakfast
- Enjoy one of Puerto Rico’s greatest natural wonders at the El Yunque Rainforest – the only tropical rainforest in the United States
- Hike the nature trails and take in their breathtaking views
- Take time to enjoy the natural playground as you swim in the pools, waterfalls, natural waterslides, and rope swing into the river*
- Early dinner
- Kayak to the Red Mangrove Forest to enjoy the sunset
- Head to the Bioluminescent Lagoon for an evening bioluminescent kayaking tour
- Return to the hotel
- Devotions
*Snacks will be served throughout the day.
DAY 3: OLD SAN JUAN TOUR
- Breakfast
- Morning Old San Juan city tour (known for its rich history, old forts, cobblestone streets & old-world elegance)
- Visit El Morro
- Lunch
- Afternoon language practice while shopping around the city
- Return to hotel
- Dinner
- Devotions
DAY 4: MINISTRY DAY
- Breakfast
- Full day of ministry spending time with JE’s local partners giving back & sharing the love God has shown us
- Lunch
- Afternoon ministry activity & continual language practice
- Return to hotel
- Dinner
- Devotions
DAY 5: CATAMARAN CRUISE / SNORKELING
- Breakfast
- Transfer to El Rey Marina
- Morning catamaran cruise out to the uninhabited little island of Icacos
- Swimming & snorkeling in the crystal-clear water
- Lunch served on the boat
- Transfer back to Isla Verde
- Dinner
- Devotions
DAY 6: TRAVEL DAY
- Breakfast
- Depart for airport
- Fly home after an amazing life-changing experience in Puerto Rico!
