OVERVIEW

Recapture the heart of American history on the Explore Boston tour! On this journey, your group will follow the trail of American history from the Mayflower to the American Revolution. Visit some of the best institutes of higher education, take in a Red Sox game, enjoy the great outdoors at the Boston Commons, and more! Your group will experience a setting rich with history and significance in one of America’s oldest cities.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / WALKING TOUR / NORTH END

  • Meet your JE Guide at the airport in Boston and then transfer to your hotel for a brief orientation
  • Walking tour of Boston
    • You will visit Bunker Hill, the USS Constitution, Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, Old North Church, and the Paul Revere House
  • Dinner in the North End and bakery visit
  • Your first day will conclude with group devotions at the hotel

DAY 2: FREEDOM TRAIL / BOSTON TEA PARTY MUSEUM / LEXINGTON & CONCORD

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • You will continue your walking tour by heading to the Freedom Trail
    • Visit Boston Common, State House, Granary Burying Ground, Park Street Church, King’s Chapel, Old South Meeting House, the Boston Massacre Site, Old State House, and Faneuil Hall
  • Lunch on your own and time to shop at Quincy Market
  • Visit the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum
  • Transfer by bus to visit Lexington and Concord
    • During the afternoon you will see the Lexington Battle Green, Author’s Row, and Walden Pond
  • Dinner in area
  • Devotions at hotel

DAY 3: MINISTRY / HARVARD / NEW ENGLAND AQUARIUM

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Ministry with a local organization
  • Lunch on your own in Harvard Square
  • Optional tour of Harvard University
  • Self-guided visit to the New England Aquarium
  • Attend a Red Sox baseball game at Fenway Park (pending schedule and availability)
  • Return to hotel for devotions

DAY 4: PLYMOUTH ROCK / PLIMOTH PLANTATION

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Check out/load luggage onto bus
  • Transfer to Plymouth, MA
  • Plymouth Rock and tour of Mayflower II
  • Self-guided visit through Plymouth Plantation
  • Transfer to airport for your flight home

STAY LONGER?

  • Day trip to Salem, MA
  • Tour the House of Seven Gables and the Salem Witch Museum
  • Walking Tour of Beacon Hill and Back Bay
  • See historical sites such as Boston Public Garden, Trinity Church, New Old South Church, Boston Public Library, and Newbury Street

ALTERNATE ACTIVITIES

  • Boston duck tour
  • Guided tour of Fenway Park
  • Visits to authors’ homes, such as those of Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne or Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • Visit the Concord Museum
