Romania Mission Adventure

Days 1-2

Board your overnight flight to Budapest, Hungary, where your Joshua Expeditions guide will meet you at the airport. A private coach will take you into the city where you will spend the remainder of the day. You will experience the beauty of Budapest by heading over to the Castle District for a walking tour and lunch, then the group will venture up to Saint Gellért Hill for a bird’s-eye view of what is known as one of Europe’s grandest cities. Throughout the day, you will also visit such sites as St. Stephen's Basilica, The Heroes' Square, and the stunning Parliament Building. Your group will spend the evening at Word of Life Bible camp, located just outside the city.

Day 3

Following breakfast, your group will board the coach and cross the border into Romania where you will travel to the city of Lugoj. Your group will meet the local missionaries then settle into assigned homes for the week. You will have some time to freshen up before immersing yourself into Romania culture through fellowship with local believers in the church. The day will conclude with group devotions before heading to your home for the night. (Depending on the size of your group, it may be possible to lodge in one building or a hotel.)

Days 4-7

Your group will be assigned to a specific project before you even begin your experience overseas. These days will be pre-planned and very efficient so that the group may begin its project immediately when in Lugoj. Work days may include such tasks as bricklaying, cement mixing, carpentry, cleaning, and painting. In the midst of the project, your group also has the option of doing evangelistic outreach within the community. You may be able to hold prayer walks or visit orphanages to share the love of Christ to the Romanian children. Each night you will stay with your Romanian host family and experience the culture of these brothers and sisters in Christ.

Day 8

In the morning your group will board its private coach to return to Word of Life Bible camp. The evening will close with dinner and a bonfire.

Day 9

After 8 amazing days of serving the city of Lugoj, your group will head back home to the States.


Why there is a need for ministry in Lugoj:

• The city is relatively poor with a population of approximately 60,000 people. It is located in south-western Romania about 40 miles from prospering Timişoara, and most people work in agriculture, engineering or city-centre trading. The more mobile and qualified residents are drawn to Timişoara.
• Lugoj has a Baptist church but large areas of the population live in outlying districts that have no evangelical church presence. As a result of communism, the poorest in these communities lack initiative and a focal point to move them beyond their current circumstances.
• The current house church became full with more people in a service than it could house. New premises are necessary for the congregation to continue their work, and they are fully committed in prayer and to the vision of the construction of a multi-purpose building that will enable further development and allow them to reach more people in the community.
