Day 1
Your group will take a flight into Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and meet your Joshua Expeditions guide at the airport. A bus will take you to a local hotel to settle in before heading out to explore the city. The evening will conclude with devotions and a time to share experiences of the day.Days 2-6
This morning your group will travel to the small city of Riobamba where you will stay for the next few days to work with the indigenous people from the mountains of Ecuador. Twenty minutes into the outskirts of town you will find the hard-working people of the small town of Cajabamba; this will be your mission field. Through daily work efforts, you will find ample opportunities to share the love of Christ to the children and adults of this small community. You might find yourself involved in light construction tasks or helping out in a health clinic where you will work side-by-side with the town's residents. There may be opportunities to work in lunch clubs, serving meals to children, or to serve on a teen team, evangelizing to lost teens through their school and lunch programs. Interaction within the community works to strengthen your ministry during these days of service, and this will leave a lasting impression on the people you meet. Your tasks will bring opportunities for Biblical counseling and outreach to the communiity, and you will develop relationships that deepen throughout the week. At the end of each evening your group will gather together to share a devotional time and participate in discussion of your personal experiences.Day 7
On this final full day in Ecuador, you will travel by bus to Otavalo, where the beauty is found in its people, the Otavalo Indians, and their market. The drive will take you through Andean passes and valleys to the town of Otavalo, two hours north of Quito. You will travel over the equator and past such gems as the snow-covered Cayambe Volcano and Lake San Pablo. Otavalo's people are famed worldwide for their traditional Andean music as well as their fine handmade textiles, and the market virtually fills the town, overflowing from the central town square. You will see woolen goods, tapestries, jewelry, ponchos, unique handmade clothing, and Panama hats (which all come from Ecuador). The motto here is: the more you buy, the lower the price! At the conclusion of this last day the group will head back to the mission house for a final evening of devotions.Day 8
This morning you will head to the airport for your flight home after a life-changing week in Ecuador.Navigation
