Days 1-2

Your group will board a trans-Atlantic flight to Milan, Italy, where you will meet your Joshua Expeditions tour director at the airport after clearing security. Following a transfer to the city of Torino, you will have a chance to explore the local markets of this thriving city as well as take some time for lunch and a visit the famous Duomo cathedral. Later, you will continue your journey into the stunning Italian Alps until your group arrives at the ministry base of Forterocca. After settling in, you will take a tour of the facilities and then enjoy dinner and devotions at the close of the day.

Day 3

Today your group will help the ministry with various projects at the site, possibly including light construction, painting and cleaning, and clearing out landscaping on the property. During the evening, the ministry director will share more about their work in the nearby valley community, including the ways they are serving the local residents and what kind of needs are present. Dinner and devotions will conclude the evening at Forterocca.

Day 4

Following breakfast your group will depart for a day of skiing and snowboarding in the Alps! After a morning on the slopes you will enjoy lunch at the ski lodge and then have more ski time in the afternoon before returning to Forterocca for dinner. Your evening will feature a time of worship around a campfire as you learn more about the spiritual condition of Italy and Europe.

Day 5

Today you will travel deeper into the mountains and hike through the passes to view the 16th century Valdese Bible College and Cave where believers were once persecuted for preaching the Gospel. These Bible students had to go into hiding to study the Word and grow in spiritual maturity, and then they were sent out into the world to proclaim the Gospel. In addition to their place of study, you will see the site where many of these men and women were martyred for their faith by the Pope’s Army in 1655. Later in the afternoon there will be an opportunity to take part in an English conversation exchange at a local Italian school, or you may be able to attend a sporting event (depending on scheduling and availability of the students). Dinner and devotions will conclude this day.

Day 6

Following breakfast your group will leave Forterocca and set out for Milan, where you will be able to visit one of the largest cathedrals in the world   the Milano Duomo. In Milan, there will be time for lunch, shopping, and exploration of the city before your group meets up with a local missionary team. During the evening you will assist a local church in distributing literature to the Milanese and informing them of church services and available ministries. Later, you will have a time of fellowship over dinner during which your group will be able to share testimonies and worship. This special night will provide many opportunities to encourage your evangelical Italian church hosts and to reach out to those who are not yet believers. It promises to be a wonderful conclusion to your time in Italy.

Day 7

Today your group will depart for the airport and your flight back home. (Some activities may be scheduled during the day, based on your group's departure time.)

MINISTRY DETAILS:
Forterocca is a ministry base located in northern Italy. The ministry serves an Italian community in the Pellice Valley and works to raise up missionaries to go out and share the Gospel. On this mission trip you will serve the local ministries and missionaries on a logistic and practical level, and you will focus on relationally engaging with local Italians in fellowship. The spiritual heritage of Pellice Valley is powerful, and it is our hope that students come away with a deep conviction and appreciation for their faith and a desire to be compelled by the love of Christ.
