Day 1
Your group will travel to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where you will meet your Joshua Expeditions tour director at the airport once you exit security and retrieve your luggage. From the airport, your group will travel to the mission facility, allowing you an incredible opportunity to see Haiti up close. The drive will be a perfect time to begin preparing your heart for ministry, providing you some time to pray for the country and the Haitian people as you drive through the crowded streets. At your mission facility, you will unload your luggage then take some time for a welcome meeting and orientation. The remainder of the day will provide a chance to tour the missions compound and meet the many orphaned children who call the site home. This first day will conclude with devotions and evening worship.Day 2
This morning you may begin your ministry within the local community or you could participate in worship services with the residents (Sundays only). You will worship alongside Haitian believers, singing a combination of English and Creole worship songs, and then you will participate in children’s church, playing games and singing songs with the children from the orphanage. The evening will offer a chance to enjoy an authentic Haitian meal in a local restaurant before returning to the mission facility for devotions.Day 3
Following an early breakfast, your group will head into the community of Leveque, where permanent homes are being built for families displaced by the 2010 earthquake. You will visit the families living in temporary shelters to share the Gospel and pray for them with the help of Haitian interpreters. Following lunch, you will transfer to the community of Bercy, where the mission organization is building a clinic, school, and agricultural training center. In the evening you will return to the mission facility for dinner, devotions and evening worship.Days 4-5
Your group will return to Leveque for a number of projects over the next two days. You will be painting newly-finished homes, building porches, digging and planting the landscape, and ministering to the community. In the afternoon your group will wrap up the construction projects then gather the local children for songs and games. You will also have an opportunity to walk through the community, praying with people and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Your day will conclude with dinner, devotions, and evening worship at the mission facility.Day 6
This morning your group will head out to Titanyen, the largest community in the area. Originally a small, somewhat rural community outside of Port-au-Prince, Titanyen became a relocation site for many families displaced by the earthquake, and an orphanage was built by community leaders in order to house the many children who were orphaned. You will have opportunity to teach Bible stories, sing songs, play games, and complete craft projects with the children, and you will join the kids in soccer and outdoor games with others in the community. In the evening you will return to the mission facility for dinner, devotions, and evening worship.Day 7
On your last full day in Haiti, your group will enjoy some leisure time at the beach. Haiti was once considered the "Pearl of the Antilles" because of its beautiful mountains and Caribbean waters, and you will get to experience its beauty firsthand. There will also be a chance for souvenir shopping with local vendors before concluding the day with dinner, devotions and a time to reflect on the week and how you can continue to impact Haiti for Christ.Day 8
This morning your group will pack up and take some time to say goodbye to the staff at the mission facility and the children living in the orphanage. Later you will head to the airport and leave Haiti forever changed.ESSENTIALS FOR TRAVEL TO HAITI
