Day 1
Your group will take a flight to Guatemala City, Guatemala, where you will meet your Joshua Expeditions tour director at the airport after passing through customs. You will transfer by bus to the hotel then take some time to settle in and maybe, if time permits, explore the area and do some shopping at a traditional market in town. Following dinner your group will return to the hotel and close the day with devotions.Days 2-4
Within the communities around Guatemala City the physical and spiritual needs are great, and many children suffer from malnutrition and neglect. Over the next three days your group will work with a local ministry to serve the people who live in some of the most marginal areas of the city. You might find yourself hosting Vacation Bible School programs for the children or you may be able to provide assistance to teachers and students at a local school. There may also be opportunity to minister alongside a church in the community. Every task will provide a chance for evangelism as you are challenged to share your faith through both word and deed. Your group will work with a JE coordinator to find the best ministry projects for your skills and talents. Each evening your group will enjoy dinner together and take time to share the day's experiences before concluding with devotions. (Additional ministry days may be added to your trip if you choose.)Day 5
Today your group will explore the historic city of Antigua, which is located in the Highland Valley and overlooks the magnificent Agua Volcano. This charming city is laced with cobbled streets, beautiful plazas, and elegant fountains, all with a backdrop of towering volcanoes. During the morning you will embark on an unforgettable canopy tour through the treetops of Antigua’s lush rainforest, and then your group will enjoy lunch in the city. An afternoon walking tour will introduce you to the rich Guatemalan culture and traditions of Antigua. This area is famous for handcrafted arts of terra cotta, wrought iron, silver, and jade, as well as wooden carvings and intricate weavings. You will have plenty of time to shop among these unique treasures before ending the afternoon with a delicious meal of local cuisine. Your group will return to the hotel in the evening and close the day with devotions and group discussion.Day 6
You will head to the airport today and depart Guatemala for home.Navigation
