OVERVIEW
On the Explore Montreal tour, your group will explore the largest city in the Quebec province and be immersed in a culture blended together from French and English roots! Your group will learn about the rich history of this city that includes visiting the site of the 1976 Summer Olympics, touring the Basilique Notre-Dame of Montreal church founded in 1642, and enjoying other top sites in this incredible destination.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / MONTREAL ORIENTATION
- After meeting your JE Tour Director at the airport, you will transfer to your hotel
- Check into your rooms and unload your baggage
- Participate in an orientation from your JE guide that will help you to become familiar with how to use Montreal’s metro system, and other information regarding the city and its culture
- Dinner and return to the hotel for lights out
DAY 2: TOUR OF OLD MONTREAL / BASILIQUE NOTRE-DAME / UNDERGROUND CITY
- Breakfast and devotions
- Spend the afternoon on a tour led by a local guide through the Old Montreal area with some time to buy snacks and shop for souvenirs
- Lunch on your own
- Tour through Basilique Notre-Dame of Montreal, an incredible church founded in 1642 that features a detailed and ornate interior that rivals any other church around the world
- Spend the evening exploring Montreal’s Underground City and have the chance to shop for souvenirs
- Dinner and return to the hotel for lights out
DAY 3: MONT ROYAL HIKE / MONTREAL TOWER / OLD MONTREAL AND RUE ST-PAUL
- Breakfast and Devotions
- Hike up to the top of Mount Royal for a view of the city and the St. Lawrence River below from 764 feet up
- Return to the hotel to clean up before grabbing lunch on your own
- Head to Olympic Park and ascend the top of the Montreal Tower for an incredible view of the city and to learn about the 1976 Olympics held there
- Spend the evening walking the picturesque streets of Old Montreal where you will find souvenirs, snacks, coffee shops, and more
- Dinner and return to the hotel for lights out
DAY 4: JEAN-TALON MARKET / MONTREAL BAGELS / MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS / OLD PORT AND ZIPLINE
- Breakfast and devotions
- Head to the largest open-air market in North America to sample local produce, buy snacks and souvenirs, and practice your French at the Jean Talon Market
- Walk to one of Montreal’s famous bagel shops and snack on the sweeter version of the New York bagel
- Lunch on your own
- Spend the afternoon walking through the exhibits at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
- Depart for the Old Port of Montreal and take in the scenery as you stop at local vendors for souvenirs before riding along a zip line that will send you over water on the edge of the port
- Dinner and return to the hotel for lights out
