2010 Essay Contest: "Making an Impact"

What are you doing to make a difference in this world?
How are you using your gifts?
How does this relate to educational travel?
 

Your life makes an impact, from the words you speak and actions you perform to the people you meet every day of your life. Everything you do causes ripples in the lives of others. It is up to each of us to decide what we want to leave behind.

In no more than 1,000 words, tell us how you are using your gifts and talents to make an impact in this world. How can this be applied to educational travel?
 

First place winner will be awarded a $750 scholarship toward his or her Joshua Expeditions program. Second place winner receives a $100 Visa gift card.
The deadline to enter is August 1, 2010.
 

How to Enter:

• Submit a typed essay along with cover page to:

• Cover page must include the following:
• First and Last Name
• Your Age
• Email Address
• Daytime Phone Number
• Complete Mailing Address
• School You Attend (including name, city and state)
• Name of Sponsoring Teacher

Contest Requirements:

• Only one essay submission is permitted per student.
   
• Essay may be no more than 1,000 words in length.
   
• Essay must be typewritten.
   
• Each page should include your name and the name of your school.
   
• Essay must be accompanied by a cover page with complete information, as detailed above.
   
• You must be eligible to travel on a Joshua Expeditions program between September 2010 and August 2011. (You are not required to be registered for a program when essay is submitted.)
   
• Your entry must be mailed to the Joshua Expeditions office at the address stated above. No entries will be accepted via email.
   
• Your entry must be postmarked by August 1, 2010.

 

First Prize: $750 scholarship toward the winner's Joshua Expeditions tour
Second Prize: $100 Visa gift card
Scholarship award may only be used by the winning student and can only be applied toward a trip for which he or she is eligible.
 

No purchase necessary. Students do not have to be registered for a specific tour at time of contest submission. Students must be eligible to travel with Joshua Expeditions during the 2010-2011 tour season (September 2010 - August 2011).
