Emerald Coast Adventure

Day 1

Your group will travel to Destin, Florida, and immediately begin to explore the Gulf Coast area with your Joshua Expeditions tour director. You will have the chance to take a walk on the beach or join a game of Frisbee, or visit sites where The Truman Show was filmed. Later, your group will head to dinner and then check into your hotel. Your group will close the day with devotions on the beach, weather permitting. (This day's activities will depend on your group's travel and arrival times.)

Day 2

Following breakfast at the hotel your group will board the bus for a day of fun and sun in Fort Walton Beach. Breaking into smaller groups, you will participate in a rotation of surfing/paddleboard lessons, sand volleyball tournaments, ultimate beach Frisbee, and free time to explore the boardwalk and soak up the Florida sun. During the afternoon your group will spend time in ministry with a local organization. There are many needs in West Florida, and you may have the chance to do some light construction, sorting of clothes for donation, and general cleaning activities. After a long day your group will head back to the hotel to freshen up before enjoying dinner at the Destin. The evening will also include some time for shopping and a movie before returning to the hotel for devotions.

Day 3

This morning your group will head east to enjoy the unique underwater ecosystem of the Gulf coast. You will have a chance for snorkeling and even a dolphin cruise where you will have opportunity to observe and possibly interact with dolphins in their natural habitat. The group will explore the coastal areas, and you may even be able to collect a few specimens to identify before releasing the creatures back into the wild. On your way back to the hotel the group will stop by Pier Park, where you will have the chance for shopping, beach activities, sand volleyball, or just walking the boardwalk. You will have a chance to freshen up before concluding the evening with dinner and devotions.

Day 4

On this morning your group will have more time to spend at the beach enjoying Florida’s beautiful weather. There will be a few structured activities such as sand volleyball tournaments, sand football, and ultimate Frisbee, and then you will take some time for lunch before returning to the hotel to freshen up for afternoon activities. Your group will spend the afternoon at The Track where you will have the opportunity to "Race the Wild Woody" on a three-story spiraling wooden track. The Track also includes a slick track named Slick Willy, or you could just hop into a blaster boat or enjoy a game of miniature golf to pass the time. If you are feeling adventurous you could also participate in optional activities like a ride on the sky flyer or a bungee jump. (Fees for optional activities are not included in the price of the tour.) The evening will conclude with dinner, followed by devotions at the hotel.

Day 5

On your final morning at the Emerald Coast, your group will take some time to serve the people of Destin in ministry activities. It is this rewarding experience that will bring your trip to a close.
