Costa Rican Adventure

Day 1

Your group will arrive in San Jose and meet your Joshua Expeditions guide once you pass through customs and immigration. You will transfer by bus to the hotel then have a bit of time to freshen up and maybe, if time permits, shop at a traditional Costa Rican market in downtown San Jose. Following dinner you will return to the hotel for devotions and a time to share the day’s experiences.

Day 2

This will be a day of unforgettable white water rafting! The Pacuare River provides an adventurous ride filled with stunning beauty along the entire length of its twisting, turning rapids. The river runs from the country's highest mountain range to the coastal lowlands of the Atlantic, and it is a safe, but very exciting experience! At the end of this full day, your group will return to the hotel to share a time of devotions.

Day 3

This morning your group will travel to La Fortuna and Mt. Arenal, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. You will make a stop along the way in Zarcero for a visit to a church with some very unique landscaping then proceed to the rainforest for a hike down to a spectacular waterfall. In the evening, the group will enjoy the natural hot springs at the foot of the volcano, and if it is a clear night, you will also get to see the mighty fireworks of Arenal! Surrounded by evidence of God's spectacular creativity, your group will close the day with a time of devotion.

Day 4

Your group will head out today for a zip line tour through the jungle canopy. You might even want to try out the Tarzan swing! In the afternoon you can relax as you float down the Peñas Blancas River. You will want to keep your eyes open so you can see the crocodiles, sloths, monkeys, and other unique animals and insects that inhabit the rainforest. Your group will conclude the day with dinner and devotions at the hotel in San Jose.

Day 5

Following an early breakfast your group will head out for the day to Punta Leona on the Pacific Coast, where you will enjoy the surf and the white sand beach. Following dinner n the evening, you will be able to enjoy some optional activities in the area. (Fees for optional activities are not included in the price of the trip).

Day 6

Early this morning you will enjoy a pre-breakfast hike through the rainforest to get the day off to a unique beginning. Your group will then head back to the beach where you can participate in optional activities like snorkeling or kayaking. Following lunch by the water, the group will return to San Jose, stopping along the way for a little shopping in the mountain town of Sarchi. Known for its artisans and handicrafts, you will enjoy browsing the marketplace for unusual treasures. The day will close with dinner and devotions at the hotel. (Snorkeling equipment should be brought from home, and fees for optional activities are not included.)

Days 7-8

During the next two days you will work with a local ministry in the San Jose area. Opportunities can vary from light construction projects to Children's Clubs, concerts and evangelistic outreach. The communities of San Jose are filled with men, women and children whose needs are both physical and spiritual, and your service to them will bring much-needed hope and joy to their days. A JE coordinator will help you find the best ministry for your group to join. At the conclusion of this rewarding experience, your group will have an opportunity to share personal experiences and a time of devotion.

Day 9

Your group will set out this morning for a full day of fun in the sun! A Catamaran cruise will transport you to the white sandy island of Tortuga, where you will enjoy great food and have your choice of many different beach activities. The evening will allow one final opportunity for your group to share devotions and personal experiences from the week.

Day 10

The group will head to the airport this morning after an amazing week in Costa Rica.
