Bavarian Tour

Days 1-2

Following an overnight flight to Munich, Germany, your group will meet a Joshua Expeditions guide in the airport then set out for Dachau, where you will visit the first concentration camp that was opened in Germany. This camp served as a model for all others and continues to resonate with visitors nearly 70 years after its captives were liberated. After this emotional beginning, you will head into Munich's city center for some free time followed by a short tour of the famous Glockenspiel, as well as Viktualien Market and Marienplatz, Munich’s most important square. Afterward, the group will continue south to Garmisch, a beautiful Bavarian town located on the German-Austrian border.

Day 3

During the morning your group will visit the Olympic Ski Stadium, site of the 1936 Winter Olympic Games, and then take a hike through the spectacular Partnachklamm (Partnach Gorge). After a morning of breathtaking views, you will have lunch in downtown Garmisch before venturing over to Neuschwanstein Castle, near the town of Füssen. The day will conclude with dinner and a time of devotions and discussion.

Day 4

Today the group will head to the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. A cable car will take you to its peak where you will find the most spectacular view of Bavaria. In the afternoon, a private coach will take you on a tour through Ettal and Oberammergau before the day concludes in Garmisch with devotions and a time of discussion.

Day 5

This morning you will travel to Mittersill, Austria, where your accommodations will be found in a castle! (subject to availability) Along the way to Mittersill, you will jump on a summer, downhill luge, and then the group will stop at Innsbruck for lunch and some free time. You do not want to miss the town's famous Golden Roof! Upon arrival at the castle in Mittersill, you will have more free time to explore before dinner and devotions conclude the day. The view onto the valley and the mountains surrounding the town will take your breath away!

Day 6

Your group will set out today for a tour of Salzburg, Austria – Mozart’s birthplace! A short walking tour of the city will include such sites as the Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mirabell Gardens, Salzburger Dom (Cathedral of Salzburg), as well as Mozart’s home and filming locations from The Sound of Music. You will have free time to grab a few souvenirs before your group heads back to Munich for the night.

Day 7

Your morning flight out of Munich will conclude six amazing days in the heart of Bavaria.
